Natascha Engel

Born in 1967, Natascha was elected as Labour Member of Parliament for North East Derbyshire in the General Election of May 2005. She succeeded veteran MP Harry Barnes who had held the seat for almost 20 years prior to his retirement.

Natascha lives in Dronfield. She and husband Dave have two children; Malek born November 2003 and Anton born May 2005 shortly after she became MP.

During the 2005 election, Natascha campaigned on a platform of:

  • Keeping Derbyshire manufacturing
  • Skills training for people in and out of work
  • Continued action on drugs and crime
  • Engaging young people in politics
  • Dignity and prosperity in retirement

As the MP for North East Derbyshire, Natascha is working hard to advance these priorities.

Natascha's Message to her Eckington constituents

Natascha Engel in action in the house of CommonsI am delighted to have been asked to contribute to the Inside Eckington website. I feel that it is important that MP's use as many ways as possible to communicate with people locally and to make themselves more accessible.

My office is based here in Eckington and I try to get involved in as much locally as I can. I am keen to visit any groups, schools or businesses in Eckington and will always try my best to visit. Fridays and weekends are usually best for me because that is when I am in the area. Please feel free to either call my office or just pop in anytime and speak to Lucy or Steve who work there to check my diary.

I have regular surgeries around the constituency to deal with local or national issues for people where I can. If you think that I may be able to help you in any way again please feel free to visit my office. If I am not in you can get messages to me.

All of my contact details are also on my website at www.nataschaengelmp.org.uk

I am always keen to receive your opinions on any matter and hope to have regular consultations. Please look out here for further details in the future.

I hope that this new website proves to be very popular and successful and can be used to showcase many of the good things that happen in and around Eckington.

    Best wishes
